Access and benefit-sharing (ABS) refers to a set of rules and principles governing the use of biological resources, or in other words, the way in which biological resources may be accessed, and how users and providers of biological resources reach agreement on the fair and equitable sharing of benefits that might arise from their utilisation.

Please be informed that the Access to Biological Resource and Benefit Sharing Act 2017 [Act 795] is enforced from 18 December 2020. Therefore individuals/companies applying for an ABS permit in Malaysia are required to comply with the provisions specified in the Access to Biological Resources and Benefit Sharing Act 2017 [Act 795] and its regulations.

Applicants are strongly advised to read and understand the Act 795 and its regulations before applying to the relevant Competent Authorities (CA). The Act 795 and its regulations can be downloaded through the following link:
